Hi again. Our adventures continue in Northern Ohio. Today we are visiting Once Upon A Time Toys in Rocky River, Ohio. They started their toy store in Cleveland in 1984, but moved to Rocky River Ohio in 1988, where they’ve been operating ever since.
They are family owned and operated. Jack, the owner, is there daily to oversee the operations, as their mission statement says, they want to make sure Rocky River has a real toy store that kids can visit and find that special gift just for them. The store offers creative hands-on toys that encourage social skills, rather that escaping to the virtual world.
Once Upon a Time often offers special events. While we were there, a portrait artist was present. There was a line of families waiting to have an original portrait drawn in pencil just for them.
We found many interesting toys not found at the large outlets. Steiff and Gund plush animals, Corelle and Madame Alexander dolls. Toys made by Hale, First Friends and WPW were all on shelves. Many of the toys required assembly (by the children) and some that will require a joint parent/child experience.
They had an excellent selection of books that would be great for reading to your kids.
A great place to spend the afternoon, Once upon a Time Toy Store, 19285 Detroit Road, Rocky River, Ohio. Visit the other nearby, unique shops in the area, too.
Happy Adventure Hunting!
